We
defeated Wesleyan yesterday 11-8. It was
a bit of a disappointing game despite the win.
There were several times during the game where it felt as if we were
ready to dominate and pull away, but our execution was not consistent
enough. They possessed the ball well and
played zone defense to change the tempo of the game. We were too stagnant against the zone and it
cost us some possessions. We were
excellent in the riding game, so were were able to
get some unsetlled goals. In fact, if we had finished a few more of our
unsettled chances, the score could have possibly been much different. I think everyone was pressing a little by the
end of the third, beginning of the 4th and it resulted
in turnovers and penalties. We spent a
significant amount of the last quarter and a half down a man after being up
10-4 and on the verge of pulling away.
The game never appeared in jeopardy, but it was getting a little
interesting down the stretch.
Bob Wannop played a great game as a short stick d-middie and Brian Phinney played
great in his second game back after hockey, contributing a goal in addition to
great long stick midfield play. Despite
too many turnovers, the starting attack of Saraceni,
Howe and Foster at least contributed points.
Howe had 3, while Saraceni and Foster each had
2.
We
hope to be able to get our game in on Monday against
