Sarge
has been forwarding me the various e-mails that the players have been sending -
swapping war stories and reminiscing about the whole Vail experience. I
thought I'd add a few cents from the sidelines - for what it is worth.
This was our fourth trip out in five years. I think Bob agrees – it just keeps
getting better. To have two teams to watch was double the pleasure.
Not only did the Supermasters finally get to play some great ball with guys
their own age, but it has brought some much needed young blood into the
Middlebury camp. Something tells me the years will only keep getting bigger
and better.
I certainly enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. The spouses
and significant others have all become fast friends. And nothing beats
seeing the kids on the sidelines cheering for their dads. A suggestion
for next year: Plan some time to run the "clinic" with the kids
on an off afternoon. I know the idea was thrown around, but I think they would
really get a charge out of it - boys and girls.
I think my favorite memory remains the last night at Los Amigos. For those
that don't stay for the last supper together - plan to next year. The singing,
the hugs, and the conga line behind Pete to the ice cream shop are priceless
memories.
Thanks to everyone for another great trip.
