Dear all:

With just 30 days left until game time we have just enough players to compete, but really not enough to survive a few key injuries or any significant no shows. I have spoken to or emailed a few of you and we have discussed that it would be great to have a few "extra" players. Since it is clear that we have exhausted any hopes of finding additional Midd alumni, we need to turn to "outsiders" to fill our ranks. But I think most of you would agree that we don't want to simply take unknown walk-ons. While it would be great to win some games, I don't think any of us want a "hacker" or a "trash talker" on the field with us. So, our only real option is to recruit a players with whom we already have relationships.

Greg Wheeler '78 just recruited Jim Ladd (Ithaca '81) to play attack/midfield on the Supermasters team. Greg has been playing on the a club team with Jim and he knows him real well. This is the sort of player we are looking for to help fill out our ranks.

The situation is most critical for the Masters team:

Attack - 5 players

Midfield - 8 players

Defense - 3 players (moved Jon Peterson '86 to defense)

Goal - 2 players

8 midfielders is not a great number. 3 defense is also not great. You guys on the Masters team had better get on the phone and start recruiting!

The situation for the Supermasters is better, but more players would help:

Attack - 5 players

Midfield - 10 players

Defense - 4 players

Goal - 1 player
